We love migrants. We think migrants have been good for Britain. And millions of you agree. Migrants have helped Britain prosper. Migrants have allowed Britain to compete as a knowledge economy in a globalised market.
Migrant footballers mean that British teams can compete in international tournaments. And migrants here made Britain an interesting, diverse, brilliant place to live.
We have provided these facts on this website so people feel confident when explaining why they love migrants. We have also provided the sources for our information so that people know we’re not just relying on prejudice.
We pose an alternative to the prejudice and dangerous attitude of some of the media and the current Government who readily blame problems and spread scare stories about migrants. We want to be visible. We don’t want to lecture people – but we want them to know that most people in Britain like meeting, working alongside and living among people from other countries.
Many of us are migrants, our families are made up of migrants and so are our friends, our colleagues, our neighbours. And that’s exactly how it must stay. So by wearing a t-shirt, carrying a bag or handing out leaflets and stickers saying I ♥ MIGRANTS we can show the world that Britain is a country of harmony and hope.
The Green party’s Caroline Lucas MP and Labour statesman Tony Benn have both lent their voices to the I Love Migrants campaign in this short YouTube video:
Danielle Goonan, from New York, talks about her migrant family and living in London as an international student.
